Young Artist Program | Level 1

Ages 6–8

Building strong artistic foundations through observation, creativity and visual language.

The Young Artist Program | Level 1 is designed for children aged 6–8 who are ready to move beyond early exploration and begin developing stronger artistic foundations.

At this stage, children learn how to look more carefully, draw what they see, organise their ideas, explore colour relationships, and create more complete artworks. They are encouraged to combine observation with imagination, so their artworks are not only visually engaging, but also connected to their own ideas, stories and choices.

Through our Think → Technique → Create → Express learning journey, students begin to understand that art is not just about copying an image. They learn to observe, make artistic decisions, use visual language, create with intention, and explain their creative process.

In this program, children develop:

Think
Students learn to observe more carefully, compare objects, notice details, understand basic proportion and begin to make thoughtful artistic choices.

Technique
Students build foundations in drawing, line control, shape, proportion, colour relationships, composition, watercolour, mixed media and paper-based creative work.

Create
Students develop characters, scenes and stories, explore creative challenges, and begin to create more complete artworks with increasing independence.

Express
Students learn to explain why they made certain choices, describe the methods they used, share their creative process, and present their artworks with confidence.

By the end of Young Artist Program | Level 1, students are not only able to create more developed artworks, but also begin to understand how artists observe, plan, create and communicate ideas through art.

Program Fee

$58 per lesson · 1.5 hours per lesson

The program fee includes:

• Professional teacher instruction and individual guidance

• Structured curriculum, lesson planning and learning resources

• All art materials required for regular lessons, including aprons, drawing paper, pencils, brushes, paints, canvases and project materials

• Use of studio tools and equipment

• Participation in Infi Art’s Annual Student Exhibition

Fees are paid by the term, following the Western Australian school term calendar.
